CHARITABLE UNION PROM DRESS EVENT – On March 16, 2019 from 10AM-3PM, CU is looking for volunteers to help us with this upcoming event. Female volunteers are needed to help with chaperoning young girls selecting dresses. If you are seamstress, then you can assist with alterations and fittings. All volunteers are needed to assist at the end of the event to return the storeroom floor to its original inventory.

And if you know a young woman in need of a dress, this free event is open to ALL Calhoun County High School Students! Simply bring your school ID and find your prom dress for FREE! This event is possible because of the generous donations Charitable Union has received of new and gently used formal wear. We have over 600 dresses to shop from. Currently sizes 20-28 are limited quantities.

Please join us for this event and help to spread the word!

GREEN ICE GAME! The Christian Life Committee is planning an event you don't want to miss! What's a "Green Ice Game"? It's the K-Wings Hockey Team playing on St. Patrick's Day, Sunday, March 17th, ON GREEN ICE! The game is at 3:00 p.m., adults $13.00, children $9.00 (ages 2-12). This is their most popular game and has been sold out for the last 3 years. We have 30 seats on hold. Each adult ticket holder also gets a hot dog & soda voucher, 45th Anniversary Pin, and a Jaspare's Breadstick Certificate. Sign up poster will be in the narthex on Sunday, February 10th. Cash given/checks made out to Barb Heffner. Deadline to pay and reserve your spot is Sunday, March 10th, or until the 30 seats are sold. Get your green on, grab your shamrocks and join us! THURSDAY LENTEN SUPPERS Join us for a light supper served at 6:00 pm each Thursday during Lent, with no supper served on Maundy Thursday. The brief mid-week Lenten worship service will follow at 7:00 pm. This week's meal (Mar. 21) will be prepared by Karen Lukowski, Deb Duggan and Cheryl Tsuchiyama. Thank you to Jackie Luke, Susan Callahan and Barb Marquette for preparing last week's meal.

ANNUAL LENTEN LUNCHEON SERIES - Hosted by Rev. Wm. J. Wyne and Second Missionary Baptist Church, (485 N Washing Ave.) March 6 to April 17, 2019 each Wednesday at noon with a different pastor speaking each week. Our own Pastor Jennifer Michael will speak on Wednesday, March 27. Come for a time of personal reflection; a time of purposeful gathering, a time of priceless fellowship. SAMARITAS HIGH-FIVE SUNDAY – St. Peter will welcome Kaitlyn (Katie) McCuen, BSW, to our worship service next Sunday, March 24. Katie is the Resource Family Development Worker for Samaritas Foster Care. She has been with Samaritas for about a year and a half and has a passion for child welfare. She is a former Seita Scholar and graduated with her Bachelors in Social Work from Western Michigan University. Katie has a huge passion for helping those in care and advocates for foster youth and parents. She enjoys traveling, shopping, spending time with her family, and finding new ways to help youth in the foster care system.

As Samaritas enters its 85th year of serving people as an expression of the love of Christ, we are seeking your help to give more high-fives to the 16,000 people each year whose lives positively transform through the great work we share with you. Those who came before us left an amazing legacy for us to steward. Now, we are called upon to continue this blessing for generations to come.

ELCA World Hunger; 40 Days of Giving - Until all are fed!!! Not all are fed yet locally or around the world. ELCA World Hunger is still seeking to make that a reality. Outreach is offering members another opportunity to help ELCA World Hunger. We will be offering members who wish to take a bottle and fill it during the Lenten season. We'd ask that the bottles be returned by Sunday, April 14, 2019. Our goal which is posted on a bulletin board in the narthex is $400. If you have any questions about this project please contact Linn Kracht. Thanks for considering this ministry.

MONTHLY GAME NIGHT: MARCH 23, 2019 - Come and join us for a great time of friendly games of Euchre, Darts and whatever other board or card game you would like to bring! We will meet here in the fellowship hall from 6 pm - 9 pm. Please bring a snack to share and stay for an hour or so, whatever you would like to do! ECUMENICAL 24 HOUR PRAYER VIGIL - St. Peter will be conducting an Ecumenical 24 Hour Prayer Vigil from the end of the Maundy Thursday 7 p.m. evening service, April 18, to the Good Friday, April 19, 7 p.m. evening service. We will have the church sanctuary available for prayer for those 24 hours. The intent is to have at least one person, there can be more, praying/meditating/reading in the sanctuary each of the 24 hours. There will be some devotional material available, but people are encouraged to bring their own as well. Security will be provided throughout the 24 hours. A signup sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the narthex. Consider this being a part of your Lenten devotional discipline. Questions can be addressed to Linn Kracht.

PEACE OF MIND SEMINAR - The importance of Preplanning Your Final Wishes - Losing a loved one is a difficult process which can be made even more challenging when numerous decisions must be made. This seminar helps illustrate the peace of mind and preparedness that comes when final wishes are planned and recorded in advance. Attendees are presented with the primary reasons for preplanning and real life examples of those who have gone through a loss with and without the benefit of preplanning. St. Peter, March 26, 2019, 6:00 p.m. Cheryl Marshall of Kempf Family Funeral Services will be joining us.

10TH ANNUAL CALHOUN COUNTY SENIOR FAIR – will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019, Marshall Middle School Gymnasium, 100 E Green St., Marshall. This FREE event showcases local businesses and public services with special interest to older adults, caregivers and families. Call 269-781-0846 for more information.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SPRING COLORS 5K RUN/WALK – Is a fun walk that is raising funds for the Battle Creek Area Habitat for Humanity. Participants will be showered with colored powder at each checkpoint reached. Registration packet and a t-shirt will be available on Friday, April 26 from 6-8 pm at Hope Church of the Nazarene, 901 W Michigan Ave (located across from Leila Arboretum.) Race takes place on Saturday, April 27, 9 am at the Arboretum. Register online at runsignup.com.

COMMUNITY PRAYER BREAKFAST - The 38th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7 at 7:25 a.m. at the Kellogg Arena. This year's keynote speaker is Austin Hatch, a former University of Michigan basketball player who survived not one, but two plane crashes. If you're interested in attending to hear his uplifting message of faith and dedication, there is a sign up sheet in the Narthex. Tickets are $15 each. WE ARE COLLECTING USED POSTAGE STAMPS! Used stamps can be re-sold to stamp distributors, who then sell them to collectors. All stamps are welcome. The Alliance Stamp Ministry volunteers, based in Fort Meyers, FL, trim and sort the stamps and sell them to wholesalers to support various projects including subsidizing the ministry of Publications Alianza, a publishing house dedicated to writing and publishing Sunday School materials in Spanish, used by over 40 Protestant denominations. Place stamps in the box attached to the bulletin board in the Narthex. See Nancy Wozniak with questions.

SAVE THE DATE - For the Life of the World: Dietrich Bonhoeffer & Ecology. Saturday, March 23, 2019—The Synod's Publicly Engaged Church (PEC) table, in cooperation with the Holle speaker series, is offering a seminar by Rev. Dr. Lisa E. Dahill, Associate Professor of Theology at California Lutheran University. It will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at University Lutheran in East Lansing, Michigan. Registration and more details will be available in the near future.
