Weekly Anouncements

WE WELCOME Rev. Michael Anton to St. Peter's pulpit this morning.  We also welcom pastoral candidate Jennifer Michael to St. Peter's pulpit this morning.  Thank you for leading our worship.

THE OUTREACH COMMITTEE is planning a "Fill the Bag" project to help the Lakeview Food Pantry right before the school year begins; paper bags from Horrock's Market are perfect for this use.  If you shop at Horrock's, please as for an extra bag or two and bring them to St. Peter.  We are hoping to have enough bags by August for each St. Peter family to fill one bag.

SPEK SPEAKS - Where should we recycle plastic grocery bags?  Not in your cubside recycling!  Why not?  They interfere with the machinery - bags jam up the screens that separate recyclables from other material.  The machines have to be cleared manually, which is risky for WM staff.  Where to recylcle those grocery bags?  At Meijer, Target, Walmart or Lowe's.

KENDALL STREET PANTRY: A joint venture between Food Bank of South Central Michigan and FireKeepers Casino, the Kendall Street Pantry opens to the public on Monday April 24 at 5pm. Located inside the new Fire Hub restaurant on the corner of Kendall St and Dickmann Rd, the Kendall Street Pantry will be open Monday evenings from 5pm until 7pm. The Pantry will serve anyone in need and clients will be seen on a first come, first serve basis. As the Pantry grows, this may change; however, currently no referrals are needed. Clients must sign the self-declaration of need but no ID or proof of income is required. The Pantry will be set up in the "choice" style, allowing clients to select approximately 3 days worth of groceries, including frozen meals, fresh produce, bread, and nonperishable items. Please help us spread the word on this new partner agency!  For more information on the Kendall Street Pantry, please contact the Food Bank of South Central Michigan at 269-964-3663 or "like" and follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/KSFoodPantry. Thank you for ALL that you do to help end hunger in Calhoun County!

ST. THOMAS BREAKFAST MINISTRY  -  For several years, Trinity and St. Peter have joined forces to volunteer to help at the summer breakfast program at St. Thomas Episcopal downtown.  This year we have chosen the week of June 26.  The Outreach Committee invites your participation.  There will be a sign up sheet posted on the board in the narthex.  We need helpers starting at 7 a.m. and then others at 8 a.m.  Hope you are able to help.  Sign up for as many days as you desire. If you have questions, please contact Linn Kracht.  Thanks for your support of this ministry.

STYROFOAM RECYCLYING - A container for Styrofoam recycling has been placed in the Luther Room. Bring in your clean #6 Styrofoam containers and packaging through the year and we will take them in when special recycling events occur!
